Juice feasting Day 28th ,Saturday November 26th 2011

This is todays video-Not talking about detox in this video~

What Is Detoxification?

Detoxification is the process of clearing toxins from the body or neutralizing or transforming them, and clearing excess mucus and congestion. Many of these toxins come from our diet, drug use, and environmental exposure, both acute and chronic. Internally, fats, especially oxidized fats and cholesterol, free radicals, and other irritating molecules act as toxins. Poor digestion, colon sluggishness and dysfunction, reduced liver function, and poor elimination through the kidneys, respiratory tract, and skin all add to increased toxicity.
Detoxification involves dietary and lifestyle changes which reduce intake of toxins and improve elimination. Avoidance of chemicals, from food or other sources, refined food, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and many drugs helps minimize the toxin load. Those lifestyle changes are a direct result of choices you make in your life. Transcendental meditation has helped me make marked improvements in not only my health and behavior but all aspects of my life. I highly recommend you look into it .
When detoxifying your colon, it is also important to incorporate probiotics in your diet to replenish your intestinal flora.
Colon cleansingBowel movements are the basis of your health. If you don’t have at least 1 bowel movement per day, you are already walking your way toward disease. Man’s body has not changed very much in the past several thousand years… however man’s diet has certainly changed a lot. All the refined sugar, white flour, hormone/antibiotics-filled meats we constantly ingest constitute an assault on our bodies. We are continuously violating our bodies by eating terrible foods. Colon cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S.
So, all congestion and toxins must be removed, and it must begin with cleansing of the bowel.
One of the most frequent bowel problems that people experience today is constipation.
A constipated system is one in which the transition time of toxic wastes is slow. The longer the “transit time,” the longer the toxic waste matter sits in our bowel, which allows them to putrefy, ferment and possibly be reabsorbed. The longer your body is exposed to putrefying food in your intestines, the greater the risk of developing disease. Even with one bowel movement per day, you will still have at least three meals worth of waste matter putrefying in your colon at all times.
Disease usually begins with a toxic bowel. Those having fewer bowel movements are harboring a potentially fertile breeding ground for serious diseases. Infrequent or poor quality bowel movements over an extended period of time may be very hazardous to your health.

Today is Juice feasting day 18 of my 90-120 days ...........

.
Yummy juice of several things in here:
 Kale,Spinach,swiss chard 1 huge leaf,burdock root,
celery,cucumber,fennel,zucchini,4 skinny asparagus, 2 granny smith,lemon,ginger.

I am so amazed at what vegetables can be juiced. I really can only drink 2-2.5 liters of juice and plenty of water in my day. Right now I am using a Breville juicer. I like the Breville because it is a fast juicer. On the downside the Breville leaves the pulp large and I end up squeezing my pulp and get anywhere from 1-5 more ounces from the pulp. I wish someone told me in my beginning of using my Breville to tell me --SQUEEZE THE PULP- My first juicer 3 years ago was a used Champion that I bought on
Craigslist, andI still use my Champion for raw ice cream......

Now what I am waiting for is my Omega J8600 juicer.  I used a 20% off coupon at Bed,Bath and Beyond. The store orders it and it will be 2 weeks. Any day now my new juicer will be here.  I chose that one because the pulp will be dryer,it juices GREENS better, and it will juice wheatgrass, and I love wheatgrass. I love it's flavor(many don't),and I love how it mends the body. Eat Raw it does a body good!!

Not much to say today as I read and read and read blogs, books, videos and there all on juicing or body  health.
I hope all my days will continue as they have, because I feel great and I am back to exercise ,and my clothes are feeling looser.

Juice feasting day 8 and 9 of my 90-120 ...........

This was another nice calm not rainy day in the Pacific Northwest and that is a great surprise. I make handmade soap and lotion and with our economy I slowed selling my soaps at craft shows. I would of sold at a show on Saturday November 5th however I chose to not go. If I would of gone it would of been a nice dry day. Oh well, we took that nice walk instead. I am so happy with myself thus far on my juice quest. I know it is my beginning ,but I find myself constantly thinking of nothing but what this is and will continue to do for my body. Let alone lose several pounds.
Yummy mid -day V-8 drink

My hubby broke this glass(after I washed it)
as it sat clean on my counter!!

After my lemon water after I woke up I made some juices. This is my what I call
V-8 juice:
3 Roma tomatoes

1 clove garlic
lemon
broccoli stem
4 thin asparagus
8 fresh green beans
romaine leaves- 4
zucchini-1 small
cilantro -1/2 bunch

Day 13 of Juicing........

I am so strong I am impressing myself. This sounds cocky, but just know I have tried this juicing thing to last for days several times as said and then Whammy I fail. I really am loving how great I feel. I wanted to jump to yesterday Day 12-

Woke up to my usual 32 ounces of lemon squeezed water with NO MSM yet as I will be doing my Enema. But is a part of my ritual I have going. Then it will be 2 Vitamin D 5,00 I.U . tabs via doctors order as I am low on D, my Detox herbs from photo .Yep,I love those tinctures, they really make me feel full as if I had a meal, maybe that is just me but it's working for me ,no complaints
( except the taste). I personally only take these 1 time a day but you can take them 3 times a day..... I take a small glass add all the Tinctures  add 4 ounces of water and drink followed by water, then take the two (2) capsules and that is all done for me. Juice and water  throughout the day and wheat grass at night or hot tea, that is my day in a nutshell with the meals.
Ferry ride from a few days ago South of Seattle

Mount Rainier in the distance
I put a espresso expensive machine on Craigslist and within 2 hours it was sold, gotta love Craigslist sometimes. The downside was the fellow wanted us to deliver it to Seattle and we did only because we head there all the time anyhow. I made $240.00 and I paid $700.00 maybe 10 years ago. Since going raw my espresso machine has been in a box for probably 4 years. And I don't drink lattes or coffee anymore. Coffee is one of the first things I would recommend if you want to get real raw :-). We then went to Thrive in Seattle, so I could get a fresh juice(Apple, beet, cucumber and Ginger)- and my husband ate some Thai noodle dish that he loves there. As this next weekend we are having a garage sale so it's clean out time around here. My juice gave me a nice cleanse . I hadn't made any beet juices because as said I am really sticking with lower sugar  by my choice.

Today I juiced:

Green juice of 32 ounces of -Cucumber,Celery1/2 bunch dandelion, spinach, cilantro, parsley,Fresh dill, lime, Granny smith apple and finally chunk o'ginger

Fruit juice of ----1/2 big Watermelon ,2 limes and 10 leaves of fresh MINT from my home. This made 55 ounces of juice and I drank a good amount of that.

Lots of water today too even though I went potty from all of the watermelon. I am chilling today as I am just peaceful today -not so high energy as I usually can be. Catching up on my juicefeasting .com readings that I printed and reading "The Seed".
Watermelon,mint and lime,

I need to say something- you know many people when juice feasting say at times their teeth feel gritty. I have an opposite issue. My tongue is really weird and rough as in the back of my tongue where I can't brush or use the tongue cleaner that I have. Yes it is white,( my tongue)part of the detox, but I wonder if others have had that tongue thing going on? But today day 13 my tongue is actually better,or I am simply getting used to the feeling.

Today I think a walk at the Tacoma water just might be on my menu of exercise today. End my day with Dry brushing and  a bath ,and finally a cup of war tea......Yep,that sounds like a good day!

Day 8 Juicing.............All great!

I am trucking along on the juice thing. I really have it ,I really do FINALLY!!!!!! I absolutely have no desire to chew food and my mind is set to not think of food either at this point. Hip Hip Hooray! I am stoked. I feel so good, the sun is shining and I fell clean I mean really clean -in and out.
You know the more I think about this journey the more I get why I really am doing it. Knowing that I grew up with everything  food wise meat included. Sadly I was brought up to eat everything on our plates as kids. I say crap on that . I will say I really never was a huge meat eater even as a child ,and could remember at Christmas for instance we always had Prime Rib ,I say So What. I ate it as we had to but never liked it and Thanks god I am now nor never was a fan of steak. Yuk I say,as I was more of a fish lover. Long story short as I grew older I chose to take a cleaner eating approach and we raised our kids with a balanced diet ,but as they got older they also chose to  eat whatever  they want. I myself really made a turn to Raw around age 49 as I am going to be 53 years young in Dec of this year. I love eating Raw /Vegan food and I feel so good doing so. Don't knock this lifestyle if you haven't tried it~

Lambs quarter from the woods
My lambs quarter juice with other stuff too

Today was another sunny 81 degree day -just beautiful......After awakening and drinking 32 ounces of water with lemon squeezed into it I made this~I made this wonderful amount of juice today from these ingredients: 2 Cup lambs quarters,4 dandelion leaves,1.5 cucumber,6 stalks celery, small romaine,1 small zucchini 2 limes, 1C. spinach 1 golden delicious apple....And this drink was not bitter either as lambs quarter is mild.

Discovering Edible Lambs Quarter Weeds
Lambs Quarters.thumbnail Surprising Lambs QuartersAs with any edible weed or wild plant don’t eat unless you are positive of its identification and that it has not been exposed to chemical sprays or pollution. So if you’re not familiar with lambs quarter refer to a good edible weed field guide or consult with someone who is familiar with the plant before eating it.
Lambs quarter can frequently be found growing in vegetable gardens, on disturbed soil, and along the fringes of fields and banks. The plants can grow to about four feet in height with multiple branches forming off of a main squarish looking central stem. Lambs quarter leaves often have a white, pollen-like substance coating their undersides.
Now the husband and I are going to give all 3 dogs outside since it is incredibly warm today and the weather is said to change tomorrow~

I always end my day with a bath and skin brushing. I also drink wheatgrass 1.5 hours before bedtime. Why 1.5 hours I don't know I just do it

Day 3 of my Juicing again :-)

I am on Day 3 of my juicing and I am really hesitating on telling people about my day 3 as it seems I never get too far if I tell too early in my juicing quest too make it past the 10 days mark . I am here to say for me the fact that the sun starting shining here in Washington state that is -Western Washington helps me spark intense cleansing. And I do have a thing in my personality if the  sun is not shining I can be a bear. I know this about myself.
In order to help me juice I have my own garden off butter lettuce, romaine, kale and I also have basil, cilantro, dill, and these items are a start without having to go to the market as much. I do need to get a hold on keeping the bugs off the leaves ,as all I see there are some  some holes on my leaves in the garden. Not too happy about that at all so I need to work on a cure for that!
After I got up and cleaned the house as I always do in my AM hours, I first made a lemon Spring  water 32 ounce drink. As I clean I drink my water. Then I do my enema, wait about 1 hour and start my juicing. I just can't see drinking juice first and then doing  an enema as I say  no thanks I say.

By the way Day 1 was good Day 2 was a headache day and today is energy in me. I know every day is a different feeling and I am taking my 1 day at a time I have to practice what I believe in.

my mid day juice was:
1 lg. cucumber, cilantro (handful), 4 leaves of butter lettuce, big handful spinach, small romaine,4 kale leaves, 3 lg. celery stalks, 2 limes,1/2 red pepper, 2 pear and 1 apple. Usually I don't add so many fruits but I had a feeling this might be a bitter drink if I didn't lighten the flavor and I loved the lightness this 52 ounce drank became.

My Dinner hour Juice: A VEGETABLE DRINK~ 2 heirloom tomatoes, basil, 5 celery stalks, jalapeno, zucchini, 3 kale leaves, cilantro, parsley, mint (not a vegi) and lime.

I went to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 1/2 hour walked down a private long road outside where I live at that is a round trip with the outside walk of almost 3 miles and that walk takes 1.5 miles with a few sections of walking up hill.

How I feel today: I feel really clean and energized inside and out today. No worries no attitude,as I know I get some low crabby days on the juicing experience. I feel comfortable, not cold as I sometimes get all over. It is a warmer day outside too.

A part of me really needs to stay juicing ,I have tried and stopped much sooner in the past then I want to this go around. With being a part of "RawFoodRehab" and watching and hearing of other peoples  journeys, you would think I could really get over the head game inside of me .I think I have to fight the fight inside much better then I have in the past. I mean the International Day Of Juice feasting will be here in Sept 2011 here in My neck of the woods~and Penni will be here. Can I get it together before then and I say YES!!

Starting my Juicing days -Day 1

Oh Oh,is it that time again. I am so glad that Winter is ending and Spring is beginning. The weather may not feel so much like so here in the Pacific Northwest but we have too many rainy days and this gets real old real fast. I am spending my beginning days with myself by taking it easy and see what happens. I have been eating raw food with vegan meals too, but my passion is to become a full raw eating human being. This is a testimonial to myself. I think Vegan seems to be much easier although I will be concentrating on my ever day and every meal putting nothing but tea, broth, juicing into my body and take 1 day at at a time. Today I sipped on a juice made from :

beetroot and greens, broccoli, kale, romaine, cucumber, celery, lemon, ginger. And check this out I have been making rejuvalac with winter wheat berries:
Now what I do is make rejuvalac and put in into the refrigerator, then what I do is  add rejuvalac into my juice and my water at about 1/4 C  2-3 times per day times a per day. If I don't wake up to 32 of oz. spring water with lemon or ACV, then I add rejuvalac into my morning water. And I must say I really like this every morning. Switching out the rejuvalac, for lemon,or the ACV makes each day good, and I don't get boring tasting the same old lemon water every AM.Some mornings I will actually start with Wheatgrass then wait 1 hour before having my first juice of the day.

Starting Over Day 1 Juice feast all over again~

Well I must admit I went wrong a few days ago. I indulged into a salad with hubby and it was not here at home it was a Chipotle . I had a Romaine  salad no meat (heck no),however it had sauteed vegetables (onion with green peppers),lettuce, corn (dumb move) and the vinaigrette that they supply. All items are fresh ,but who cares when I was juicing , RIGHT~Why did I give in and let my mind take over in such a way! My body eliminated it that day once I arrived home. Loose stool which was to be expected happened. I am not giving up. I owe this to myself to succeed in my journey. An enema is on schedule today first because of my dumb move. I am starting juice day today with citrus  and Vitamineral green.  Maybe this will flush the other yuk out of me.

              Today I juiced :

2 grapefruit, 5 small oranges,1 teas. of Vita-Mineral green powder-Yummy stuff together. This made 18 ounces. It was a good start to a :

64 ouncesThen for the rest of my day I had Romaine, kale, cucumber, celery, apple and lemon

ended the night with pure coconut water from 2 coconuts.Hubby makes a pudding or smoothie for a snack for himself.

"New beginning"

True Love is one thing that every heart makes a wish for,
It is something that you would want to give to one and all,

It is the only hope for a better tomorrow,

The only reliever for all your pain and sorrow.

It establishes a connection between your body and soul,

Gives you so much joy and happiness that you crave for more,

When you experience it you listen to the divine music that is so sweet to hear,

And you tread the long path of life, together without any fear.

Then the world down here means nothing more to you,

Coz what you wanted all your life is now with you,

You don’t have to strive hard to remain in the state that you are in,

Because now you are already reborn with a new life- "A new Beginning…"  by Nandini

Eat the colors of the Rainbow!! Day 21

Eat the colors of the rainbow. It's easy to identify foods with the highest levels of antioxidants—they're often the most colorful. Carrots and sweet potatoes have plenty of beta carotene; bell peppers, strawberries and tomatoes contain vitamin C; tomatoes and watermelon have lycopene; and dark leafy greens like spinach contain lutein. Blueberries have anthocyanins. Red grapes have resveratrol. And the list goes on—so banish the beige!

Eating a serving of vegetables or fruit from each color group is one way to get the nutrients and fiber your body craves. You can buy them frozen, fresh, or dried.

RED: red apples, red grapes, raspberries, cherries, watermelon, cranberries, strawberries, pomegranates, pink or red grapefruit, rhubard, radishes, tomatoes, red peppers, radicchio, beets and red onions.

ORANGE and YELLOW: Carrots, pumpkin, yellow and orange peppers, corn, yellow tomatoes, squash, and sweet potatoes, peaches, nectarines, cumquats, starfruit, apples, apricots, cantaloupe, oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, mangoes, pineapple and lemons.

GREEN: Dark leafy greens such as romaine lettuce, red tip lettuce, green leaf lettuce, swiss chard, kale, bok choy, spinach, and arugula. Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, green beans, snap peas, edamame, zucchini, green onions, celery, asparagus, artichokes, parsnips, leeks, cucumber, collard greens, okra, green apples, limes, green grapes, kiwi fruit, honeydew melon, pears and avocado.

BLUE AND PURPLE: eggplant, purple cabbage, olives, raisins, blueberries, blackberries, plums, purple grapes, boysenberries, dates, figs.

WHITE: bananas, white nectarines, white peaches, jicama, palm, garlic, cauliflower, mushrooms, shallots, onions, white corn, water chestnuts and potatoes.
Happy days are here! Very hard at times to keep the mind on the juicing. It's a mental game every single day. All is good though. I feel so clean ,so fresh,so vibrant . As for what I have been juicing:

Top of the morning: Water ,lemon and 2 MSM Capsules. And all through the day water, when I leave the house my spring water is with me at all times. I always was a good water drink'in person, remembering to take my water when I leave the house is a must now. And a new habit I have gotton uses too.

Today I started with : Natalia Rose Green lemonade recipe:

Green Juice  Recipe (Green Lemonade)  64 ounces of this awesome drink

Green Juice (aka Green Lemonade)1 head romaine lettuce
5 to 6 stalks of kale - I use  Dino Kale -("Lacinato kale’)
2 apples (I use golden delicious or fugi)
1 whole lemon (organic is best so you don't have to peel it)
1 " fresh ginger root ( I love ginger)
I add 2 cucumbers to this recipe to tone the flavor a bit

I also made My Grapefruit,Orange, Vita mineral green Combo a Huge 24 oz amount today~

In my afternoon I had My VERY favorite juice of: Beet, cucumber, apple, ginger, lemon
( no greens in this drink  today but YUMMY) 24 ounces

Coconut water with More Vita-mineral green in the evening .

13th Day of Juicing.....

Today as usual I started with warmer water, lemon juice and 2 MSM Caps. My first juice of today was kale, beet, broccoli, rainier apple(yellow),ginger,2 radish. Speaking of radish ,I was interested to know why folks add radishes into their juices and here is the benefits and why radishes are good to use. Research has shown that besides vitamin C,calcium, potassium, radish also contains mustard oils that stimulate the liver to induce the gallbladder to secrete bile that aids in digestion and good nutritional absorption.

To relieve liver and gallbladder problems: squeeze the juice from radishes into any juice you prefer in order to keep the intestines clean and working properly. I was glad I looked into this issue. When you are only juicing and not eating foods keeping the inside working properly is a must. My future drinks that I will be making will have more radish listed. Here is one drink I will make from here on out:

  • Carrot Radish Beet Lemon Detox Juice
1 large carrot,10 radishes,1 apple,1 beet
the juice and also the grated zest of 2 lemons , add up to
1-1/4 C Natural clear water of choice. I like natural spring water.
Juice the first 4 ingredients. Add the lemon juice and zest.
(I don't usually use water in ANY drinks ,but this is a harsh one)

Vitamin A is essential for healthy, radiant skin and you'll get it in abundance from carrots in this juice. The bonus comes from the radishes-their natural constituents stimulate the cleansing functioning of the liver, making this the perfect juice when you've been a bit overindulgent or your digestive system seems sluggish.

I want to share how I shop for my juice makings. I shop ORGANIC and I live south of the city of Seattle but shop at the "Whole foods" and the "PCC "above in the photo and that is 15 minutes beyond Seattle. I know this may sound nuts to some of you. I happen to live away where it's quiet and serene with the natural pine trees that Seattle and the Pacific Northwest is know for. It may be green but it's also very wet most of the time too. Like right now, very wet. What I did was head to the local Fred Meyers grocery because they carry organic. I had a list of items Fred Meyers was first on my drive 1/2 hour away. I have a closer Fred Meyers but the organic is not the same and variety as the one 1 hour away. Then it was into Seattle- now I was 50 minutes to the PCC organic store, and down the road about 5 more minutes was "Whole foods". I did this purchase in that order because I want my money to go farther. Come on, we have all heard "Whole Foods" is known as

Whole Paycheck*. Have you heard that before? So today with the three receipts I spent around $70.00 and that was good because I have gone to" Whole Foods" alone and everything there would have cost about $110.00. I know, I have been that route before. I love Whole Foods but don't like their prices. This will be only about 4-5 days worth of goods and I will be heading back to Fred Meyers or another local Marlene's Natural Grocery which is 1/2 hour away also, and a tad expensive too. So back to Seattle either Saturday or Sunday and do the shopping all over again. We use the husbands work car so his work pays the gas. It's his car ,and we are charged and taxed monthly to use it(company car).
The rest of my day I drank this:
  • Green juice of ~Swiss chard,apple,celery,cucumber,parsley,ginger
  • Red Drink of~ beet,kale,broccoli,apple,lemon,ginger
  • Coconut water (12 oz or so)with 1/2 teaspoon Vitamineral green
  • Water, water ,and more water in and out of my day~
